Explanation of the Improvers Classes.
Over the last 12 years or so the names Beginner, Improver, Intermediate and Advanced have gained common usage to describe Salsa Classes.
My Absolute Beginners Course starts doing Beginner-level stuff and ends up doing quite a bit of Improver-level stuff too.
My Improver Classes are fairly similar to what are now known as Improvers/Intermediate Classes. However, because I do not teach in the traditional way using routines it is very hard to define exactly what level my classes run at... sometimes we end up doing Advanced things because we have a stronger emphasis on lead-follow skills in my classes.
To join in my Improvers Classes you are required to complete an Absolute Beginners Course first. If you already have experience of Salsa I prefer to talk to you about your dancing and then we can work out what is best for you... please be aware that I teach Salsa differently to a lot of other teachers with more emphasis on timing and lead/follow. (As discussed elsewhere, this mimics the sort of training professional dancers get and produces excellent results.) Before you first come along to one of the Monday or Tuesday classes I would ask you to contact me in advance... the reason is that the Monday and Tuesday evening classes have a lot of regular dancers and we generally build on previous material and questions from students... I believe it is only fair (on the existing students and you) to talk about it beforehand so that we can choose a good week for you to start coming.
I hope that helps! I recommend visiting the Meet Duncan section and the course description for the Absolute Beginners Course for more general information about my teaching.
